Stories from the heart of Yellowstone
Hi there! We are Jenny Golding & George Bumann. We live in a tiny house on the edge of Yellowstone National Park with our son George, and our adventure-dog, Hobbes.
We believe there is something deep and magical that happens when you are connected to wild places and wild animals. For over twenty years, our lives have been intertwined with the rhythms and patterns of Yellowstone. A Yellowstone Life is where we share stories and dispatches from our adventures that will immerse you in the sights, smells, and sounds of Yellowstone, and other wild places we travel.
What is A Yellowstone Life?
A “Yellowstone” Life is about living deliberately, in a way that is present and aware, and connected to the landscape around us. It’s about opening ourselves to the possibilities that a place like Yellowstone can inspire in our hearts and souls; a lifestyle that explores the creativity that comes from a connection to nature and a search for meaning.
Jenny Golding is a writer, photographer, digital storyteller, and the founding editor of A Yellowstone Life. Her deepest passion is helping people live in a way that feels truly connected—to the natural world, a sense of place, and our fellow beings, human and beyond. After over 20 years directing education and conservation programs for nonprofits, she now creates online stories, media, and programs that inspire deep relationships with nature, Yellowstone, and the more-than-human world. Through her community Wilder Life, she guides those seeking to weave creativity, deep nature connection, slow living, and a sense of meaning and belonging into their everyday lives.
George Bumann (rhymes with ‘human’) is an animal language expert, artist, and naturalist, as well as the author of Eavesdropping on Animals: What We Can Learn from Wildlife Conversations. With a background in wildlife ecology and over four decades of field experience worldwide, George shares the stories of his wild neighbors through his teachings and bronze sculptures, often portraying individual animals he has observed for years.
His work has been featured in the Salt Lake City Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, and on the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, and TEDx. His sculptures are housed in collections across North America and beyond, and his programs on animal language are available online.
